Raku Vase #5

Raku Vase #5
Raku Firing | Crackle and Memory
This small collection of raku-fired ceramic pieces captures the fleeting, unpredictable beauty that emerges from fire, smoke, and timing. Each form is glazed with a delicate crackle surface—a visual map of expansion and fracture—made possible through the volatile interaction of heat, air, and reduction. No two results are ever the same; each piece holds the story of its cooling moment.
At the heart of this glaze is gerstley borate, a once-common ceramic ingredient that is now obsolete. Its presence in the work is a quiet nod to the impermanence not only of process, but of materials themselves—echoing the transient alchemy that defines raku.
