Drawing - Glymur

Drawing - Glymur
This illustration drawn from my hike in Iceland on an old Icelandic postmarked envelope
We packed for the day in our usual gear - thermal layers, hats, scarves, gloves, backpack filled with food & cameras. We’ve been to Iceland before, but we decided on a new path this time. We read the hike would take 8 hours, but it was winter and the frozen landscape would stop us from taking the whole trail. We started the hike on a rubble-y path that weaved back and forth up a mountain. We reached the top, but realize that we weren’t close. The path starts to disappear and we start guessing as we follow vague footprints hidden under fresh snow. We trudge on as our hands freeze, our faces frozen, and sweat dripping down our backs as we climbed further and further. We see one group who encourages us it’s not too far. The path is still vague and then we finally reach the foggy top of the mountain that bears over Glymur waterfall.
